Humar
Italy, Friuli
A recommendation from local business friends indicated this particular wine estate. It is very near to the Slovenian border and this region is well known for its very particular microclimate.
Natasa, a native Slovenian, makes the sales policy. They only sell to few international customers; all sales policy is done to attract people to come to their estate for purchase. The white wines are very mighty in the best Friuli tradition. Especially the Ribolla Gialla is very typical with its acidulous finish. The Pinot grigio and especially the Sauvignon are from the best I ever had. They made a very alcoholic red wine (Rogoves) from the local version of the grape Cabernet Franc with 2 years in barrique, which is fabulous, but must be at the end of the evening with its 16% of alcohol and taste. Obviously the Picolit, the rare and famous sweet wine, is special and should be tasted anyway.
