In Germany Lake Constance is famous for the fruit production. Especially Apples, Pears, Cherries, Apricots, Peaches and Mirabelles are distributed all over Germany. Nearby the nice city of Lindau is a village called Kressbronn. There the Steinhauser GmbH traditionally is distilling all kinds of liquors.

One of my friends is from Kressbronn and he indicated me to pass by when I am at Lake Constace. I was overwhelmed about the choice of spirits you can find there. In fact the most difficult thing to do was the choice of what we are going to import from them. The quality of their products is out of question, but they have one spirit f.i. Obstler, in 5-6 different variations. Which one is the most suitable for China? So I had an extensive tasting of a lot of different liquors and furthermore I brought with me a lot of other to taste by time. After that we choose the range to import.

Steinhauser is also a very innovative company, so they distill also different Gin, the SeeGin, which won the first price of the internationally most important Gin competition.

Furthermore they make a German whisky, which is very good. Another specialty is the Wacholder, the raw material for Gin Juniper (in German “Wacholder). I never had such a tasty Wacholder and so it was a must to present it to our friend in China.

Also “Enzian”, the root of a flower which grows in the higher mountains is to recommand. We took 13 different liquors but at the end it is a small percentage of Steinhauser´s offer. There is still a lot to discover…
